Dress Code

It is important to maintain high standards of dress both on the course and in the clubhouse.

On the course recognised golf attire must be worn,  whilst in the clubhouse the general dress code should  be “smart casual”.

In the Clubhouse we have a progressive approach to fashion and recognise the changing trends in casual wear (for example allowing trainers and smart jeans in the clubhouse), however clothing and footwear should be smart, clean, in good repair and of a type normally associated with a golf club such as Chester Golf Club.

Golf shoes (that are clean) can be worn in the patio bar, but are not acceptable in the main lounge.

It is a members responsibility to ensure that their guests are dressed accordingly. Visitors improperly dressed will be reminded politely by a member of staff, and be requested to dress appropriately when they next visit the club.

What to Wear

Only recognised golf apparel

Golf shoes

Polo, bladed, mock or roll neck shirts

Shirts should be tucked in at the waist unless tailored to be worn outside

What not to Wear

Training shoes

Denim

Football shirts

Shirts with numbers, or large brand names

Trousers must not be tucked into socks

Cargo shorts (unless they are specific golf apparel)

In the Clubhouse

Acceptable

Smart casual wear and approved golfing wear.

Not Acceptable

Non-golf sportswear i.e. football shirts or tracksuits

T shirts with logos

No hats or caps to be worn indoors

Beach style or Cargo style shorts

Flip flops

No torn, dirty or wet clothing

Employees and members of the professional’s staff have the responsibility to police the dress code. Their decisions and interpretations of this dress code at any time must be respected by  members and their guests.
