Men's Captain, Brian Antlett
We have a thriving men’s section here at Chester Golf Club – numbering over 300.
There are handicap qualifying competitions most Saturdays and Wednesdays from April to October and more sociable, occasionally team-based events over the winter months.
The Winter League is a keenly contested league and then knockout competition, the highlight of which for many golfers is the bacon sandwich and welcome cup of tea after the first nine holes!!!
The club medal competitions allow all qualifying members to participate, regardless of gender, as we are an inclusive, friendly club, which has been proactive in embracing all aspects of the recent Equality legislation for sports clubs.
The majority of competitions are entered by choosing your tee time and partners, the only exceptions being the Opening Calcutta and the Club Championships which are drawn for partners.
New members are always more than welcome to join the club and are encouraged to buddy up with other existing or new members, which helps them to feel a valued participant of Chester Golf Club as quickly as possible. If you are thinking of joining a golf club in the area, then give us a try first and we’ll all do our utmost to ensure you enjoy all aspects of being a Chester Golf Club member, from the golf itself, to the friendly sociable environment at the nineteenth hole, not forgetting the excellent menus served by our Michelin-trained chef.
We also have both competitive and friendly matches against a variety of local golf clubs. The Scratch Team are invited to represent the club, whilst any member can play in the friendly matches.
However, it is not all about organised golf at Chester. There are many occasions to enjoy social golf outside of the scheduled competitions. There are plenty of times in the week where you may be the only golfers on the course!!
Lady Captain, Patricia Antlett
The ladies of Chester Golf Club are an active and friendly group, who welcome other ladies of all golfing abilities.
The majority of competitions are held on a Tuesday and there are also a number of two day competitions throughout the season usually played across Tuesdays and Thursdays. For people who are at work during the day there are always early evening tee-times set aside on competition days and there are a wide variety of Saturday competitions. As well as Major and Medal competitions there are roll-ups for all members, team-based events, National competitions, knockouts, inter-club matches (competitive & friendly) and Mixed golf competitions, along with ample opportunities to play social golf.
The club hosts many social events and there is also a thriving bridge section supported by both golfers and non-golfers.
Come along and meet our members for what we are sure will be a memorable and enjoyable golfing experience.
The men’s Seniors Section is open to all club members aged 55 or over. The aim of the section is to cultivate the spirit of comradeship among senior members of Chester Golf Club in various inter-club and domestic golf matches and social events. The majority of seniors join one of the unofficial roll ups which take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
The summer programme comprises home and away matches against nine other clubs, whilst in winter there are four individual Stableford and five team competitions plus two individual and one pairs knock out competitions. Away days are held in the spring and autumn.
The seniors endeavour to support Chester Golf Club in many areas, including the running of two successful Men’s Seniors Opens held in July and September. Over the years they have provided the club with various items, including a half-way house, a welcome sign for the club and the anniversary bell on the seventh hole. They also take on other projects including refurbishing the benches around the course and painting the half-way house.
Chester has a reputation for being a friendly golf club and proof can be found within the Seniors Section.
Junior Captain, Seth McGrath

The club has a thriving junior section with a variety of competitions and inter-club matches. Some of the low handicappers join in the main club competitions with great success.
